The Majestic Niagara Falls

One of the first places we take our foreign guests to is usually to The Majestic Niagara Falls and hence most of the people say that they had enough it but I can visit it every year and not ever get bored!!!

Last year we went there with my elder sister and her husband. I love them as they can make any trip so much fun!! The Falls show off their beauty and strength to both the Canadians and the Americans. Although they border both the countries, the Canadians get the better view of it. Niagara Falls has two falls within it and we (Canadians)get a better view of the Horseshoe falls and the Curtain Falls (falls created by a river that comes from the American side)..(Canadians Rock!!!)

There is so much more to Niagara Falls  that you can easily spend your entire weekend there and still be entertained.  If you are a nature lover like me you can see the gardens which are situated next to the falls. They offer a spectacular display of flowers and plants. If you go there in spring you have to look at their stunning rose garden. At night the streets are illuminated with interesting displays and if you go on the right day you will also see the fabulous fireworks. The main street of Niagara entertains the tourists with its extravaganza, we counted at least four wax museums. There were gaming arcades, Guinness Book of Records museum, lots of souvenir shops,  mini golf courses, Ferris Wheel and of course a ‘Ripley’s Believe it or Not’ and soooo much more. To make your trip even more interesting you can go up to the Skylon Tower. There are lots of hotels you can spend the night in and if you keep looking you may find a great deal!

On quiet afternoon, rejoicing the wonderful bright sunny day we headed in search of a destination.  We hopped in our car and made our way towards Lakeshore. After a brief visit at Humber Lakeshore Campus we kept heading straight. We both had our stories to share. We saw a park on our right called  Len Ford Par and decided to explore it. This park was indeed a good place to take a stroll. We could see Down Town and its trophy the CN tower in a way that we had never seen it before.  The huge glass condominiums and office buildings along with the tower looked  miniature from where we stood. We had a nice walk on the edge of the lake as a flock of geese marched in front of us. This lake is not the cleanest but is surrounded by serenity and peace. The placid environment was only disturbed by restless waves hitting against the rocks on the sides. The emerald algae shinned on the rocks as the  old evening sun still in command. There were not a lot of people on the lake. We heard beating drums and ringing bells and smell of burning charcoal mixed with perfumes as we followed the smell we found an Indian family in ritual scattering the ashes of their beloved in the lake.We also saw young couple celebrating love and small family preparing BBQ. We came back home satisfied by the scenery.

Sauble Beach to Flowerpots Island

This summer I wanted a good relaxing time out... Away from work, school and home. I had taken six courses last summer semester, was working at the college and juggling with my household responsibilities . My Corporate Finance and Strategic Management books were screaming to be read and my assignments awaiting to be finished. The following week I had Quantitative Methods and Social Psychology tests but when my sister asked me if I would like to join her to Sauble Beach I said "Yes" and I do not regret it still.

We escaped our home at 9:00 with our BBQ spices and equipment. We grabbed some fresh bakery buns, chips and soft drinks for the trip and away we went. The drive was good and we were not encountered by much traffic. Our stay was at Centennial Motel. Its a stone's throw away from the beech. We had good parking and comfortable rooms. The owners were very friendly and kind. There was not a huge crowd and we had a great time at their patio. One day we made BBQ and the next night we had ice cream. Too bad their pool was not open at that time.

We visited Sauble beech, Sauble falls and lastly Tobermory and Flowerpots Island. This place offers activities for all age groups. You need to head there in the summers if you haven't been there already.

Autumn in Algonquin

This time we planned to get the real fall experience and what better place could we go to than Algonquin Park. It's a three hour drive from our house but the beauty of the warm coloured leaves kept us entertained. I had heard so much about the spectacular colours of the leaves in Algonquin that it had to hit my "Must Go" list.

Today was one of the best October days to had out as the temperatures were very low last week. We took 401 East to highway 11 to highway 60 to get to the West Gate of Algonquin Provincial Park. The sky stretched like a blue silk cloth with no limits and the few white clouds hung low above the colourful earth. The trees showered us with the red, orange and yellow maple leaves which made our trip even more exciting. Highway 60 was a breathtaking side and we would often stop on the road side to take pictures. Considering it was a day before the long weekend we did not find much traffic on the winding roads of this scenery. I went hiking on the Hardwood Lookout Trail and the Lookout Trail since we only had four hours before sunset. The scenic beauty made us promise that we will come back to visit the other trails... Maybe camp there this summer!
